DEAR MOMMIES YOU ARE WORTH IT!

DEAR-MOMMIES-SELFWORTH

Dear Mommies-

You are worth it! To feel your best, to look your best. You are the backbone behind that household. You deserve to feel like a supermodel, even though you were probably just up all night with one of your kids. If you aren’t happy, well then your household is not happy. If you are not healthy, well who is going to watch your kids grow up? Often times us moms tend to put ourselves all the way at the bottom of the list.

If you are like me– well then your probably thinking the time that you are working out could be the time that you could catch up on sleep, or even the season of Orange Is The New Black. You may not feel motivated to go to the gym after you worked all day, cooked dinner but going to the gym will make you feel so much better. I promise after you’re in the gym for an hour, you will walk to your car feeling like you can take on the world.

You will feel even better when your pants start getting big and you have to shop for a smaller size. Dear mommies you are so worth it. Yes, our job is to take care of our families, to make sure the kids are healthy and happy and to be the best role models.

Find something in the gym that makes you happy. Make a playlist, a playlist that is only to be played while in the gym. Get some cute workout clothes. Working out is suppose to make you feel good. Get a blinged out water bottle, get some cute ear buds and go for it. Take over your life and get healthy for you!

Meal Prepping Week Of August 7

Meal Prepping

Meal prepping and planning has to be a priority if you want to shed the weight and keep the weight off. When people ask me how I did it– well it’s simple– Move more eat less! Watch what you put in your mouth. You can’t eat 2 donuts and expect to lose weight because that was the only thing you had all day!

If your not sure how to meal prep check out this great post I wrote Meal Prep 101. I am thinking about starting a series but want to hear what you think of me helping you with your meal prep! I plan all my meals including dinner for the following week starting on Fridays and meal prep every Sunday. baked-chicken-meal

If you have not looked at Targets grocery section well you need to start. This chicken is originally$6 and I got it for $3! I love finding a good deal on anything but healthy food makes me feel like I have won the lottery. When buying chicken you should always make sure your chicken is 100% all real chicken because some chicken will say including RIB MEAT…..

BreakfastBanana Almond Protein Muffins

Lunch– Baked Chicken (Trader Joes Seasoning) with a Spinach and Kale salad w/ cucumbers and tomatoes

Snack– Tangerine & Quest Bar ( not shown)

cucumber-ranch-hiddenvalley

I also tried the Hidden Valley Cucumber Ranch and it is so good! My kids also loved it with their carrots that I packed for lunch! Also these cute containers are from Walmart and I got these for $1.50 from their Back To School section! Meal prepping is the key to staying healthy, losing weight and not spending any unnecessary money on fast food. Sunday is a little hard but it is worth it because during the week it saves me time and money.

I want to hear from you, would you like me to help you on meal prepping and planning?

Banana Almond Protein Muffins

BANANA-ALMOND-PROTEIN

Protein pancakes are amazing but protein muffins are a little better! I will literally make my own recipe up and my husband is always thrilled to be my guinea pig!

Meal prepping is probably one of the hardest things I have had to do. Not when it comes to lunch but definitely when it comes to breakfast. I always say the only way you will not get bored with healthy lifestyle is if you try new things. I don’t always want the same baked chicken with veggies for lunch and thats when Pinterest can be your biggest support system.

kodiak-power-cakes

I came across this gem at my favorite store Target in the Pancake/ Breakfast food section. I never heard of Kodiak cakes but considering they were almost sold out, well I was sold on trying it.  I love how this mix can be used for so many different ways when it comes to food.kodiak-banana-cakes

I decided to make my own recipe for my meal prep and make muffins. 2 cups of the mix, 1 cup of water, 2 mashed up bananas, almonds, brown sugar, honey and a little vanilla extract made for a great breakfast. The kids and my husband were fighting over these because they only received 5 muffins to split because this mama had to take them for breakfast.

This is my first time using protein pancake mix and I am a big fan. I was always a Bisquick type of girl and grow up on that, which now my kids love this, after trying Kodiak Cakes I wont buy another brand. There are so many protein products that taste like protein but I forgot I was actually eating something healthy because it taste better than ihop pancakes. The best part is you can add anything to your protein muffins like more protein!

What do you like to eat in your Protein Muffins? I want to hear from you!

How To Make The Perfect 1st Birthday Invitation- Basic Invite

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine

Stress has taken over. I have been eating a lot of carbs and staying up late and drinking Starbucks! All because of a one year old birthday party.  In the day of Pinterest there is a lot of pressure on parties!

Im not sure if you are like me when it comes to hosting parties but I hate it. I hate the planning, the preparation and the day of last minute things because lets admit no matter how much you plan you will always have something last minute that will come up!

basic-invite-1-invitation

Thankfully, I knew about Basic Invite because I came across this company after I ordered my wedding invitations from another company and swore I would use this company because of all the unlimited colors you can use for your invitations.  Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 160 different color options.  So you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail.

basic-invite-invitations

Also, because I am a little bit of a control freak the custom sample option caused my stress level to go down a little. Basic Invite is one of the few websites that will allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before they ever have to place an order for 500 invitations. This was an amazing feature because I have ordered invitations from other companies and the way it printed was not how it looked on the screen while designing them.
basic-invite-holidays
Well my daughters invitation and even envelope screams pink! I mean it’s only right, especially because the party is a princess theme! Basic Invite is just a colorful with their envelopes as we are with our invitations.  Customers can choose from over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes so that they can make their invitation stand out even before it is opened.  All of our envelopes are also peel and seal so the envelopes can be quickly and securely closed without having to lick each one.

princess-lily-birthday

Basic Invite has an invitation or stationary for every event WeddingsBirth AnnouncementGraduation Announcements and Birthdays! I wish planning everything for this first birthday party was as easy as ordering my invitations! The party is this weekend and I still have to figure out food and how to make this food semi healthy! I also thought the picture of the birthday girl is fitting!

Save Money At Your Favorite Stores Using Groupon Coupons

(*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine*)

Coupons

What is better than Groupon? Groupon has coupons!

I remember when I was young and careless with money. I never looked for a sale or a coupon and didn’t know the definition of saving. Now that I am a Mother, Wife and running a household I always look for ways to save money.

Before I plan a trip (couples or family) I always look on Groupon and honestly I didn’t start doing that until my husband told me what great deals they have on local travel and out of town travel. Now learning about Groupon Coupons is just icing on a Chocolate Cake! They have great deals for practically every store you can think of. There are no gimmicks and all you need is an email to receive some of the coupons.

Being a Zumba instructor, you can never have enough work out clothes! With two kids I have enough laundry so I like to buy a lot of workout clothes. Spending more than $100 for a pair of stretch pants and maybe 2 sports bras is normal so I was so excited to discover these coupons. I used Groupon Coupons from Old Navy and Nike to purchase some great sports bras and running shoes and saved tons of money.

You can find great deals from:

*Target

*24 Hour Fitness (gym I use to have a membership at)

*Spotify

*Nike

*Old Navy  and so many more stores!

If you want to save a dollar and still shop at your favorite stores make sure you check out Groupon Coupons

5 Question To Ask Yourself Before Joining A Gym

questions-joining-gym

Gym and contracts are a big deal! I am always hesitant with contracts because I have had bad experiences.

The bad experience I had was signing a 2 year contract with the first place I looked. When I first started going I loved it, I had a personal trainer and was loving the gym life. As the first year continued I started noticing the gym was adding more members than they actually had equipment, room inside the facility or parking for.

Before signing a contract there are 5 questions you should ask yourself.

Fitness equipment in the gym. Gym.

1.DO I LIKE THE GYM OR DO I LIKE WORKING OUT AT HOME?

Speaking to many people, that pay for memberships and refuse to use it is because they signed up and found out they actually hate the gym. Working out when everyone can see them, is not for everyone. Most people find it to be better just to work out in their living room.

2. DO THEY OFFER GROUP FITNESS CLASSES?

For me that was important! When I first started working out I knew that I wasn’t a runner and couldn’t just motivate myself to work out. I needed a class/classes to get into because I knew being amongst other people would push me. I tried every class my gym had to offer at least once and I found my thing was Zumba!

3. CHILDCARE?

Childcare is a big deal, especially for people with kids. Not only do they have childcare, but what are the hours? I have visited a lot of gyms where the childcare is at the most inconvenient times for working parents. Why have a childcare in the gym and it’s closed during peak hours?! Make sure you verify the times!

4. GYM HOURS?

Do the hours work with your schedule? Some gyms don’t open until 6am, which wouldn’t work for a lot of people that has to work out first thing at 5am. I love 24 hour gyms but realize not every gym is like that so make sure you check on the hours.

5. WHAT IS THE ATMOSPHERE?

This is the most important question to ask yourself while visiting. I love the gym I go to, because they do a lot with the members. They offer free body boot camp, and will have little parties and Zumbathons for the members. I have been to many places, where the staff at the front aren’t friendly, and your just another body to them.

The biggest advice I could give is to do your research. Don’t go with the name because it’s well known (those are the worse ones), go with the one you love. Each gym offers things to their members, just make sure it fits you!

Licensed Zumba Instructor (ZIN)- Zumba Zumba Zumba!

I AM A ZUMBA INSTRUCTOR

I have talked myself out of it. Every time I thought about it, I thought about all of the reasons I shouldn’t do it. I came up with a million reasons, and talked myself out of it. I never shared with anyone what I really wanted to do, because I thought how crazy does that sound? A Zumba Instructor how crazy is that?!

After having my first born I suffered with really bad postpartum. I had no idea what was wrong with me, I reached out to my friends that tried to help but no one really knew how to help. My husband had no knowledge of what postpartum was and even what that meant. I finally told him I needed him to take me to the doctors. He did just that, we visited my doctor and she gave me holistic ways to de-stress like meditation, yoga, eating right, and no caffeine. Hello– I had a toddler at the time and I was in Grad school so saying no to caffeine was not even an option. She then prescribed me anti depressants that I stopped taking about 3 months in. I dealt with postpartum for a year and knew that if I got pregnant again I needed to do something else because medication was not the way to go.

Finding out I was pregnant with my daughter put me into Holistic Living Mode. I knew that I wanted to fight the war on Postpartum. I knew that after all of my research, mediation and working out was the key. After getting clearance from my doctor at my 6 week check up, I joined a gym and started just doing Zumba. I felt so good after I left every class and I knew I wanted more and more. It was like a drug that I needed, and I looked forward to every class because it was like a party! This made me want to work out and then I noticed pounds slipping off and I felt better and was in a great mood.

July 25, 2016- The Day!

IMG_4607

I started my drive to Charlotte, NC which is an hour and a half away from Columbia, SC. I left the house around 5:45am because I had to be there before 8am.  When I arrived to The World Gym, there were ladies lined up and ready! This is when my nerves started kicking in and realized this was real. We filled out our paper work, and then filled the dance studio up. Who says Zumba is just for ladies?! There were men in the class also!

My wonderful ZES Loretta Bates, made everything so fun! We dance for 2 hours and then was given a water break. Danced again, went over material and finally had lunch! I packed a tuna salad because I knew I would need more protein and little carbs. I had protein for Breakfast and snack and honestly, I think my body went into protein overdrive. LOL.

IMG_4598

IMG_4595

The rest of the day was learning different music, rhythms and nothing but shaking our butts! I met some amazing people and we got to talk to other Zumba instructors in the area. Zumba really creates a family and its great to share something you all love. At 5:30pm the class was finally over. I wanted it to be over because we had been dancing since 8 and I was exhausted but didn’t want it to end because I love it.

I have never had an experience like that and I have made some friends from that class. This day was so special and I appreciate all of the instructors and my ZES!

IMG_4604

I am now an official Licensed Zumba Instructor!

My first class starts August 22, 2016 and I am so excited! To find out more information visit my Zumba website.
